Specialist Training
Canitrain offers residential dog training in Ringcraft (all breeds), Gundog work (only gundog breeds) and Basic Obedience (all breeds).
The length of stay will depend on what stage your dog is when it arrives. If it has done nothing, a gundog can take 4-6 months to train. A dogs training should be timed to end at the beginning of the owner’s shooting season.
Show dogs usually need 2-4 weeks to cover being moved, standing squarely and being gone over.
General obedience is a piece of string. Sometimes I can put a problem right, with the owner, in ten or fifteen minutes. Sometimes a problem is ingrained and needs longer to be worked on… and the odd refresher day or two in the future.
I can offer single days’ training, with or without owners, in basic good manners in and out of the house, heelwork, social skills etc. We can particularly help with your dogs’ anxiety amongst strange people or dogs and in different environments. Those pandemic lockdowns caused us to see quite a lot of this. Rescue dogs, particularly from overseas, can have problems that can take quite a while to resolve.
All dogs live in the house, sleeping in the kitchen.
I can only offer a limited number of kennels for gundogs that prefer outdoor accommodation.
I am fully insured to care for your dog and also have a current Canine First Aid Certificate.
In my home the dogs will be under constant supervision – and there will (usually) be plenty of “down time” with educational play and mental stimulation for youngsters or total relaxation for older dogs.
No dog leaves here unhappy – that is a promise.
New clients will need to complete a Registration Form setting out all requirements clearly.

Basic Rates per day
I always charge for day of arrival but not the day of departure if collected by 10.30

You can drop your dog with me anytime from 0700 You can collect your dog anytime until 1900 Monday to Friday.
Weekends are very flexible, simply call first I am always around. We can arrange mutually convenient times, even on a Sunday.
Your dog’s normal routine honoured; feeding, medication etc.
Special needs for elderly or disabled animals can be catered for.
Vaccination certificates will be required for checking.
Inspections welcome – References available.
